Since 1993, more than 900 massage therapists, ranging in age from 18 to 64, have graduated from AAIMT (Ann Arbor Institute of Massage Therapy) and moved into the wonderful field of massage. Our graduates practice massage, not just across the country, but internationally. Our graduates are known for being well trained, highly skilled and caring massage therapists.

Exciting News Regarding Michigan Licensure!
Applications for Michigan licensing are now available!
This is not voluntary. All massage therapists are required to obtain a license by November 29, 2014 in order to practice. We recommend that you begin the license application process as soon you can. All applicants will have to complete the application, submit the fee, submit fingerprints, and complete a background check.
It is easiest for most of our graduates to choose method number 5. This will allow applicants to apply via grandfathering.
Option (5) If you completed 500 hours of a Board-approved supervised curriculum in massage therapy, then you can apply by grandfathering on that basis. If you’ve graduated from AAIMT then you qualify!
Checklist:
• Only fill out page one of the “Certification of Completion of Massage Therapy Supervised Curriculum Form” at pages 13-14 of the Massage Therapist Application Packet. Send both pages of the “Certification of Completion of Massage Therapy Supervised Curriculum Form” to AAIMT. There is a $15 fee to process the paperwork and we will send it directly to the state. You cannot send the form to the Board yourself, we must do it. If payment is not received within two weeks of the school receiving this form, it will be discarded.
• Complete the “Application for Licensure as a Massage Therapist” at pages 9-10 of the application packet. Mail the completed form to the Board with your check for $95.00. Keep a copy of this and all other completed documents for your records.
• Follow the Fingerprint Request Form Instructions on pages 6-8 of the application packet to get your fingerprints done for the required background check. You will see there are two options for getting your fingerprints done. Michigan recommends the first option, which is to have the prints taken by Identogo, a private fingerprinting company. Make sure to bring the fingerprinting form (page 8 of the application packet) and a picture I.D. to your appointment. The fee for digital fingerprinting is about $60.
You will get a confirmation letter in the mail stating that your application has been received. The entire process will take 4-6 weeks to complete.
