Gail K. - Recent Graduate - Highest GPA
For 10 years, I dealt with pain and discomfort of an old shoulder injury. Physical therapy didn't seem to help, and I began to believe I would probably live with this pain for the rest of my life. I met two wonderful massage therapists in Ann Arbor, both AAIMT graduates, and I began to understand how I had injured myself and what I could do at home to stretch and strengthen the appropriate muscles. Over time, the pain in my shoulder went away.
I wanted to know more and eventually decided to go to AAIMT to learn to become a massage therapist myself. The program is firmly rooted in science—we studied anatomy, physiology and kinesiology. It also provides many supervised hours of hands-on training, which was a wonderful way to become comfortable and confident as a massage therapist. My hope is that massage therapy will become more accepted by the medical community as an effective way of dealing with many chronic injuries.
